CPTI Training

The Collaborative Practice Training Institute (CPTI) is a diverse faculty of Collaborative Practitioners from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., comprising family law and civil attorneys, mental health professionals, financial specialists and mediators. We associated in 2007 to share ideas, expertise, and enthusiasm for Collaborative Practice and the underlying interest-based approach to dispute resolution. As a faculty we have been trained in adult education and studied a variety of Collaborative training programs to have the breadth and depth of experience to develop new courses that address the changes in Collaborative Practice as it has spread throughout our communities and the world. We challenge our participants to think about the concepts, discuss the relevant topics, and practice interest-based skills so that they can engage Collaborative practice at its core.

We offer two-day basic Collaborative Training and three-day Interdisciplinary Team Training focused on working as a team.  We also offer intermediate and advanced workshops on specific areas such as The Role of the Collaborative Coach and Child Specialist, Developing a Deep and Durable Parenting Plan, and Working with High-Conflict Clients. In addition, we are working on an intermediate level training on Civil Collaborative case work.

The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals sets standards for training trainers and practitioners. IACP does not certify or endorse specific training. This training program meets the standards of IACP. These standards can be found at www.collaborativepractice.com.
